non alcoholic tea spritzer cocktail made with Copenhagen Sparkling Tea Lyserod served over ice with citrus garnish

A sparkling tea spritzer is non-alcoholic sparkling tea with three or four dashes of aromatic bitters and a twist of lemon. It's the quickest drink on the site: two ingredients and thirty seconds.

Sparkling tea is dry, with tannin like a wine, so it works with food. Our pick is Copenhagen Sparkling Tea BLÅ, the driest of the three. For a fuller drink with vermouth and herbs, see our sparkling tea cocktail.

Steps

Wine glass or flute · Lemon peel

  1. Pour the tea. Pour the sparkling tea into a wine glass or flute, over ice if you like.
Tip: Without ice it stays closer to a wine; with ice it's a long afternoon drink.
  2. Add the bitters. Add 3–4 dashes of bitters.
Tip: It sounds like a lot for one glass; the tea can take it.
  3. Garnish. Twist the lemon peel over the glass and drop it in. Don't stir.
Tip: The bitters sink and mix on their own.

Per drink: about 40 calories and 8 g sugar. Estimated from the bottle's label and USDA data.

Make it yours

Greener

Lysegrøn: green tea, lemongrass and orange peel. More herbal.

Rosé

Lyserød: red fruit and a pink color. Softer, and very good with orange bitters.

Fruity

TÖST Original: white tea, white cranberry and ginger.

Orange

Orange bitters instead of aromatic. Brighter, and good with a kumquat slice.

Longer

Over ice in a wine glass with 30 ml soda. Lighter, for a hot afternoon.

Common questions

What is a sparkling tea spritzer?

Non-alcoholic sparkling tea with a few dashes of bitters and a lemon peel, served in a wine glass or flute.

What is sparkling tea?

Tea that's brewed, carbonated and bottled like a wine. It's dry and has tannin, so it suits food the way wine does.

Which sparkling tea should I choose?

BLÅ is the driest and most wine-like; Lysegrøn is greener and more herbal; Lyserød leans red fruit. All three work here.

How many dashes of bitters?

Three or four. It sounds like a lot for two ingredients, but the tea can take it.

Should it be served over ice?

It doesn't need it: the tea is already cold, and ice dilutes the tannin. Use ice for a longer drink on a hot day.

Does it have alcohol?

Copenhagen Sparkling Tea, TÖST and our bitters are labeled 0% or 0.0%, so as written it has none.

How to serve & pair

Serve well chilled in a wine glass or flute.

Good at the dinner table: oysters, sushi, white fish, salads and cheese. It's dry and low in sugar, so it behaves like a wine with food.
