Halal-Certified Non-Alcoholic Wines and Drinks

Non-alcoholic wines and drinks whose producers hold a halal certificate from an outside body, every one at 0.0%: sparkling, white, red and rosé from France, Spain, Germany, Italy and Australia, plus a few gin and vodka alternatives.

They are made two ways, and the Process filter separates them. Never-alcoholized bottles, such as So Jennie Paris and Le Petit Béret, are built from selected grape musts and never fermented. Dealcoholized bottles, such as Elivo, Lussory and French Bloom, are fermented as wine and then have the alcohol removed. What does halal certification cover on a drink?

The ingredients, the processing aids, the alcohol level and the absence of cross-contamination, checked by an independent certifier rather than described as suitable by the producer alone. Certifiers apply different standards, so ask the producer which body issued the certificate.

Which ones were never fermented?

Choose Never Alcoholized in the Process filter. So Jennie Paris, Le Petit Béret and NON are made that way, from selected grape musts or from fruit and tea, so they never held alcohol. Never fermented is not grape juice: So Jennie Blanc Dry has about a third of the sugar.

Which are sparkling?

About half the shelf. So Jennie Paris, Le Petit Béret and French Bloom all make halal-certified sparkling for a toast or a celebration; the type filter shows sparkling on its own.

Is every 0.0% drink on this shelf?

No. A drink measured at 0.0% with no certificate has not been through a certifier’s checks on ingredients and production, so it is not listed here. That is the reason this shelf exists separately.
