Non-Alcoholic Home Bar Essentials
These are the mixers, bitters, garnishes and tools we reach for. A home bar is the difference between opening a bottle and making a drink — start with a spirit you like, then build around it: a tonic or soda that suits it, bitters for depth, and something fresh to finish.

What do I need to start a non-alcoholic home bar?
One spirit you enjoy, one mixer that suits it, a bottle of bitters, and something fresh — citrus or a garnish. That's enough for several different drinks. Everything after that is refinement.
Do non-alcoholic bitters work like regular bitters?
Yes, in the same way and the same quantity: a dash or two for depth and aroma. Traditional bitters are high proof, so an alcohol-free bottle is what keeps a drink genuinely alcohol-free.
Which mixer goes with which spirit?
Tonic with juniper-forward spirits, ginger beer with anything warm or spiced, soda with bitter aperitifs. When in doubt, match intensity: a delicate spirit deserves a delicate mixer.
What tools actually matter?
A jigger, so drinks repeat; a strainer; and something to open bottles properly. The rest is preference.
