Non-Alcoholic Drinks and Your Health

The measurable part is on the label. The rest is a category sold on how it makes you feel, and we say so.

In short

Two different questions get asked here. What is in the bottle — alcohol, sugar, calories, botanicals — is measurable, and we publish it on everything we list. What a drink will do for you is not, and for most functional ingredients the evidence is thin. We describe the bottle; a doctor knows the drinker.

Start hereThree that answer most of it.

What's in the glass

Calories, sugar, carbs and what the label does and does not have to tell you.

Functional and adaptogens

What these drinks are formulated with, what they are sold as, and what the evidence actually says.

Pregnancy and nursing

What the guidance says, what is in the bottle, and where the two do not line up.

How this section works

Health & Functional · a note from the desk

Most questions people ask about these drinks are really questions about the body. How many calories are in a glass. Whether the sugar is worse than the alcohol was. Whether it is safe in pregnancy. Whether an adaptogen does anything at all.

Some of those have clear answers and some do not, and we try to be plain about which is which. Calories in non-alcoholic wine is measurable and varies more than you would expect. Low and zero-sugar options exist, though the label wording is inconsistent between producers. Pregnancy is where the guidance matters most and where the 0.0% versus 0.5% distinction stops being academic. Adaptogen and functional drinks are the newest part of the shelf and the part where claims run ahead of evidence.

We publish ABV, sugar and calories on every product we list. That is not a health claim — it is the information you need to make your own.

Nothing here is medical advice. If something matters to your health, ask a doctor rather than a drinks shop.

Which works out perfectly, as more and more studies have started to realize the health benefits of moderate amounts of wine. Living a healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean completely cutting out your favorite treats. Turns out, non-alcoholic wine has quite a few health benefits which will leave your body feeling better after every sip, perhaps even more so than alcoholic wine.

Is Non-Alcoholic Wine Safe While Pregnant?

At BeClink, we support an alcohol-free lifestyle for a variety of people who choose to live alcohol-free for a plethora of different reasons. One major reason many people choose to go alcohol-free—at least for a period of time—is due to pregnancy. During pregnancy, women are unable to drink alcohol. However, they can still enjoy the taste they love and the same feeling of class and sophistication through a glass of non-alcoholic wine.

Who writes this, and how

The Dry Pour is written by the people who run the shop. We buy everything we sell and taste most of it. Where we have not tasted something, we say so and describe it from the label and the producer rather than pretending otherwise.

We publish ABV, calories and sugar on every product we list, and we print what the producer states rather than a tidied-up version of it — which is why you will see both 0.0% and 0% on this site, because they are not the same claim.

What suits you depends on what you like drinking. Our job is to give you enough to decide. More about us.
