Non-Alcoholic Pinot Noir

Thin-skinned and difficult to grow, Pinot Noir trades power for perfume — red cherry, rose and forest floor over light tannin and bright acidity. It is the red of Burgundy and one of the three grapes of Champagne.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Pinot Noir good for?

Almost everything a white would suit, plus everything a light red would. Its aromatics and acidity carry it completely, so it works with salmon and mushrooms as readily as with roast chicken. Chill it lightly and it is very good indeed.

Is there a non-alcoholic Pinot Noir worth drinking?

Pinot Noir is one of the most interesting reds to try this way, because its whole character is perfume and acidity rather than power. Red cherry, rose and forest floor all carry. What it cannot hide is a thin mid-palate, so the better bottles come from riper sites.

What should I serve with it?

Salmon, duck, mushrooms, anything earthy. It is the red that behaves like a white at the table, and that flexibility survives dealcoholization completely. Serve it cool, around 55°F.
