Non-Alcoholic Muscat

The rare grape that actually smells of grapes — floral, orange-blossom, sometimes faintly of elderflower. It is among the oldest cultivated varieties and appears dry, sweet and sparkling.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Muscat always sweet?

Often, but far from always — and the aroma persuades people otherwise even when the wine is fully dry. Dry Muscat is common in Alsace and Spain and makes a fine aperitif; sweeter styles suit fruit and pastry at the end of a meal.

Does Muscat really smell of grapes?

It does, and it is close to the only wine grape that does. The aroma comes from terpenes concentrated in its skins, and they survive dealcoholization well, which makes Muscat one of the most recognizable wines on the site.

How should Muscat be served?

Cold, and in a smaller pour than you would give a dry white. Its aromatics are intense and a full glass warms before you reach the end of it. Dry styles work as an aperitif; sweeter ones belong with fruit.
