Non-Alcoholic Carignan
High in acid and firm in tannin, Carignan gives dark fruit with a stony edge. Old low-yielding vines across southern France and Catalonia are what made its reputation, concentrating everything the grape has.

Why do people talk about old-vine Carignan?
Because age concentrates it. Vines that crop lightly put everything into fewer grapes, and Carignan responds to that more visibly than most — deeper fruit, firmer structure, a real stony character. It is the version worth seeking out.
What does Carignan taste like without alcohol?
Dark fruit over a stony, firm frame, and it keeps more of that frame than most reds do, because acidity and tannin are both preserved. It reads leaner and more savory than a Grenache and rewards a slight chill.
Is Carignan usually blended?
Traditionally yes, across southern France and Catalonia, where it gave structure to softer grapes. Old-vine plantings are increasingly bottled alone. Where it appears in a blend the label says so.
