More about Kankitsu Labo
Who they are
Kankitsu means Japanese citrus, and that is the whole brief. Kankitsu Labo exists to carry fruit that has barely left Japan — sudachi, yuzu, amanatsu — to people outside it, and to give the growers and small manufacturers in the countryside a reason to keep going.
The fruit comes from the southern prefectures: Tokushima, Ehime, Yamaguchi. The extracts are pressed from the sides rather than crushed whole, which imitates squeezing by hand and keeps the bitter oil in the peel where it belongs.
Alongside the extracts there are candied peels and organic jams, all drawn from the same orchards.
What does kankitsu mean?
Japanese citrus. It is the category the whole brand is built on.
Where does the fruit come from?
The southern prefectures of Japan — Tokushima, Ehime and Yamaguchi — from small growers the company works with directly.
What else do they make?
Candied citrus peels and organic citrus jams, alongside the pure extracts.
