More about Drink Ghia
Who they are
Mélanie Masarin grew up in France and spent her summers with family near the Mediterranean. She read economics at Brown, worked as a financial analyst, then ran retail and offline experiences at Glossier before leaving to make a drink she could not find.
She wanted a bitter aperitif rather than a substitute for anything. Working with a food scientist, and paying for it out of her savings, she went through dozens of formulations, holding the bitterness while early tasters pushed her toward something sweeter and easier to place. Ghia launched in June 2020 with 1,200 bottles.
The Berry followed, and the bottles are still made in Los Angeles. The name is borrowed from an Italian car designer.

Is there added sugar in Ghia?
No. Both bottles read zero added sugars on the panel. What sweetness they have comes from the fruit — the Original is 58 percent juice and the Berry 93 percent.
How is Ghia meant to be served?
One part Ghia to three parts bubbles, over ice — sparkling water, tonic, or kombucha. That ratio is printed on the bottle. The Berry also takes being drunk neat on the rocks.
How long does an open bottle keep?
Three weeks, refrigerated, for both. It is a shorter window than most bottles in this category, so it is worth knowing before opening two at once.
