Vanilla Spice Nightcap Mocktail

Whiskey alternative, ginger and vanilla over one big cube — a short drink for the end of the evening.

Serves

Base

Whiskey

Glass

Rocks glass

Garnish

Expressed orange peel

A nightcap should be short, warm and slightly sweet, and it should take under a minute. This one is essentially an Old Fashioned that's had a good day: same spirit-forward build, same big cube, with ginger and vanilla rounding the edges.

Ingredients

Method

Make it yours

Drier

Halve the vanilla syrup. Closer to an Old Fashioned.

Warm

Heat gently and serve in a small mug. Very good in December.

Creamy

A splash of oat milk turns it into a dessert. No judgement.

How to serve & pair

Serve this Vanilla Spice Nightcap Mocktail over a large ice cube in a rocks glass to maintain structure and enhance the slow-sipping experience. This alcohol-free cocktail pairs beautifully with:

  • dark chocolate desserts
  • vanilla-based pastries
  • roasted nuts
  • caramel desserts
  • cheese boards

Perfect for after-dinner drinks, cozy evenings, or as a refined non alcoholic cocktail to end the night.

Common questions

How is it different from an Old Fashioned?

Ginger and vanilla instead of plain syrup. Softer, sweeter, and easier to drink slowly.

Does it have caffeine?

None. Despite the name, there's nothing in here to keep you up.

Why one big cube?

It dilutes slowly, so the drink stays itself for as long as it takes to finish.

Can I use maple syrup instead of vanilla?

Yes, and it's excellent — rounder, and it suits the ginger.
