Non-Alcoholic Old Fashioned

Whiskey alternative, a little syrup and plenty of bitters over one big cube — the simplest drink here and the hardest to fake.

An Old Fashioned is a spirit with the volume turned up: sugar, bitters, ice, and nothing to hide behind. That makes it the toughest test a non-alcoholic whiskey can face, and the most satisfying one to pass. Take your time over the stir.

Ingredients

Method

  1. Add simple syrup and bitters to a mixing glass.
  2. Add Whissin Non-Alcoholic Whiskey and fill with ice.
  3. Stir gently for about 20–30 seconds until well chilled.
  4. Strain over a large ice cube in a rocks glass.
  5. Express an orange peel over the drink and garnish.

Make it yours

Smoky

A drop of liquid smoke, or rinse the glass with a smoked tea. Less is very much more.

Sweeter

Maple syrup instead of simple. Rounder, and it suits the spice.

Cherry

Muddle a cherry with the syrup before you build. The old-school way.

How to serve & pair

Serve this Non-Alcoholic Old Fashioned over a large ice cube to maintain its structure and slow dilution. This alcohol-free cocktail pairs beautifully with:

  • dark chocolate desserts
  • roasted nuts
  • aged cheeses
  • caramel desserts
  • savory appetizers

Perfect for evening cocktails, slow sipping, or a refined alcohol free whiskey experience.

Common Questions

Why one big cube?

It melts slower, so the drink dilutes gently rather than all at once. Small cubes turn it watery within minutes.

How many dashes of bitters?

Two or three. Non-alcoholic whiskeys are lighter than the real thing, so bitters do more of the structural work here.

Should I stir or just build it?

Stir, properly — thirty seconds. The dilution is an ingredient, not an accident.

Why does mine taste thin?

Usually under-stirred or under-bittered. Both are easy fixes, and the second is the more likely culprit.
