Non-Alcoholic Botanical Gimlet

Gin, lime and a little sugar, served cold and up — three ingredients with nowhere to hide.

non alcoholic gimlet cocktail with lime in coupe glass clean citrus drink

Time

5 min

Serves

1

Base

Gin

Glass

Coupe or martini glass

Garnish

Lime wheel

The gimlet is a gin drink with the lights on. There's no bitters to muddle through, no soda to soften the edges, just spirit and lime in a chilled glass. Which makes it the fastest way to find out whether a non-alcoholic gin has real character or just juniper flavouring.

Make it yours

Cucumber

Two slices muddled before shaking. Cool, clean and very summer.

Sweeter

Lift the syrup to 20 ml. The classic ratio is sharper than most people expect.

Savoury

A pinch of salt in the shaker. It rounds the lime without tasting salty.

How to serve & pair

Serve this Botanical Gimlet well chilled in a coupe glass to emphasize its crisp structure and aromatic profile. This alcohol-free cocktail pairs beautifully with:

  • seafood dishes
  • light salads
  • fresh appetizers
  • citrus-based dishes
  • summer snacks

Perfect for pre-dinner drinks, warm weather occasions, or a refreshing alcohol free cocktail experience.

Common questions

Why is my gimlet cloudy?

Shaking with citrus always clouds a drink slightly. That's normal, and it settles a little in the glass.

Should the glass be chilled?

Ideally, yes. There's no ice in the finished drink, so the glass is doing all the work of keeping it cold.

Lime cordial or fresh lime?

Fresh here, with syrup for sweetness. Cordial makes a different and much sweeter drink.

Can I serve it over ice?

Of course, though it'll dilute as you go. Up in a coupe keeps it sharp from first sip to last.
