About Pierre Zéro Chardonnay Sparkling

The sparkling Chardonnay is the bubbled version of the Pierre Zéro white, and the two sit side by side in the range.

Oak wood infusion and a yeast infusion are part of the recipe, which is where this differs from the Signature Chardonnay above it — that bottle lists two ingredients and nothing more.

It comes in 750 mL and in a 200 mL bottle sold by the six.

About Pierre Chavin

The Béziers house behind nine alcohol-free ranges, sold in more than sixty countries.

Maison Chavin works out of Béziers, in the Languedoc, and makes alcohol-free wine at a scale almost nobody else does — nine separate ranges rather than one, sold in more than sixty countries.

The division that matters to anyone buying runs underneath the names. Some ranges are made as wine and have the alcohol taken back out at the end. Others are never fermented at all, built instead from grape juice, infusions of oak and grape seed, and long maceration, so there is no alcohol to remove. Pierre Zéro, the flagship and the oldest of them, is the first kind. ÔPIA and Le Petit Étoilé are the second.

That split is also where the sulfites fall. Le Petit Étoilé is made without preservatives or sulfites and was built for French bistros; the Pierre Zéro bottles declare sulfites on the label. Two answers to two different questions, from one house.

The grapes are the French standards — Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot — and the bottles come full-size and in smaller formats for one.

New to Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wines?

Sweetness is the main variable — it is the easiest way to give an alcohol-free sparkling some body, and it swings widely. The sugar per pour is on every product page here. Grape tells you the rest: Chardonnay runs taut and citrus-driven, Muscat and Gewürztraminer floral.

Common questions
What is the oak infusion for?
It is part of the recipe rather than barrel time. The ingredient list names oak wood infusion alongside a yeast infusion.
How does it differ from the Signature Sparkling?
The Signature bottle lists two ingredients. This one adds grape juice, oak and yeast infusions and flavorings.
