About Sparkling Rosé

The Sparkling Rosé is Chardonnay and Syrah together — the Syrah giving the color and the red fruit, the Chardonnay keeping it lifted.

Oddbird makes the wine in full in the Languedoc and takes the alcohol out at the end, by vacuum distillation after up to twelve months of aging.

Dry rather than sweet, which is the harder thing to do in an alcohol-free rosé. Serve it very cold.

About Oddbird

A Swedish house making wine in France, aging it, and taking the alcohol out at the end.

Oddbird was founded in Sweden in 2013 by Moa Gürbüzer, who had spent two decades as a family therapist working with families affected by alcohol. She wanted the question would you like your wine with or without alcohol? to become as ordinary as asking whether someone takes milk in their coffee.

The wines are made in France, in the Languedoc-Roussillon. What separates them is the order of operations: the wine is fermented and aged for up to twelve months as wine, and only then is the alcohol drawn off by vacuum distillation. Nothing is bought in already finished and stripped afterward.

Five drinks reach us. A still white built from five aromatic grapes, a southern red from the Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah trio, a sparkling Blanc de Blancs, a sparkling rosé, and a skin-contact orange that is sparkling as well — which is rare in any wine, with alcohol or without.

New to Non Alcoholic Rose Wines?

Rosé here runs from bone dry to distinctly sweet, and the bottle rarely tells you which. The sugar per pour does.

Common questions
Is the Sparkling Rosé sweet?
No. It is built dry, and the Syrah gives fruit rather than sugar.
What should I serve it with?
Charcuterie, smoked salmon, or on its own before a meal.
