About Classico

Lyre's Classico in 750 mL, a sparkling wine alternative. Sold in some markets as Classico Grande. Green apple and citrus over a fine, persistent bead, dry and crisp.

It is made from carbonated water, sugar and non-alcoholic fermented grape juice concentrate, and carries less than 5% juice. A 150 mL glass is 25 calories with 6 grams of sugar.

Well chilled, 6 to 8°C, in a flute or a tulip glass. Contains no alcohol.

About Lyre's Spirit Co
Everything from this producer

Named after the Australian lyrebird, the world's greatest mimic — which is the whole idea.

Mark Livings and Carl Hartmann founded Lyre's in Australia in 2019, setting out to build a range that echoed the classic spirits rather than inventing new flavors.

The name is the method. The lyrebird imitates whatever it hears — other birds, a camera shutter, a chainsaw — and the range is built the same way, each bottle answering a spirit a bartender already knows how to use. That is why the labels say Gin Alternative and Dark Rum Alternative rather than inventing a word for what is in them.

The bottles carry the Social Animals, a cast of characters drawn one to a liquid. The range now runs from the spirits through a sparkling Classico to canned cocktails, and the company sells in more than sixty countries.

It is built to do the same job — dry, crisp, with a fine bead — but champagne is a protected denomination and this is a sparkling wine alternative. Lyre's call it Classico.
How sweet is it?
Dry rather than sweet. A 150 mL glass carries 6 grams of sugar and 25 calories, and the bottle holds five glasses.
How do I serve it?
Well chilled, 6 to 8°C, in a flute or a tulip glass. It is stored under pressure, so point it away from yourself and do not use a corkscrew.
