About GINSIN Strawberry

The strawberry GINSIN takes the same juniper-led base and turns it toward soft red fruit.

It is a concentrate like the rest of the range, diluted one part to three. Tonic works, but so does soda if you want the fruit to sit forward rather than behind the bitterness.

About Espadafor

A Granada family firm making alcohol-free spirits since 1939, now in its fourth generation.

Espadafor began in the centre of Granada on 11 October 1939, when Francisco Espadafor Ramírez turned his business toward wine and non-alcoholic drinks. It has stayed in the family ever since. His son Juan Espadafor Caba took it on in 1952 and built the first proper factory in 1967.

The turn that matters here came in 1985, when Eulogio and José Espadafor Llobera took over and pointed the whole company at drinks without alcohol in them. WHISSIN, the whisky alternative, arrived in 1998 and is still in the range.

The next generation came in from 2011 and took the drinks past sixty countries. The factory moved out to Escúzar, south of Granada, onto an avenue that carries the family name.

New to Gin?

Juniper is the requirement; everything else is the maker's argument. The ingredient list is where you see it, and a longer botanical bill usually means more to taste once it is long and cold.

Common questions
Is it sweet?
It leans sweeter than the original, which is what the strawberry is there for. Diluting it further pulls it back.
What garnish suits it?
Lemon rather than orange, to keep the fruit from turning jammy.
