About Blanco

Almave Blanco in 700 mL, made in Jalisco from blue agave. Bright and herbal, with clear cooked-agave character and enough acidity that it does not go soft in a glass.

The agave is cooked and pressed the way it would be for tequila, and the flavor is carried across without fermentation. Gum arabic gives it a little weight, and oak tannins pull the finish dry, which is what keeps a margarita built on it from tasting like agave syrup and lime.

Made for mixing. Contains no alcohol.

About ALMAVE

Lewis Hamilton and the agave biologist Iván Saldaña, working out of Casa Lumbre in Mexico.

Lewis Hamilton drank tequila, and wanted something to reach for on the nights he was not drinking. He worked on it for a long time before anything reached a shelf, and the people he took it to were Casa Lumbre, a Mexican spirits house with a record of building brands from nothing.

Iván Saldaña is the reason it holds together. He wrote a doctorate in biology on agave species, co-founded Casa Lumbre in 2011, and has spent his working life on the plants of Jalisco. Hamilton, Saldaña and the investment firm Copper launched Almave together in October 2023.

Pernod Ricard took a minority stake the following August.

New to Mezcal / Tequila?

Agave carries smoke, pepper and a green edge, and those survive extraction better than softer spirit notes. Worth checking the ingredients for whether agave is genuinely the base or the flavor.

Common questions
Does it actually taste like tequila?
It carries the cooked-agave character rather than the burn. The agave is cooked and pressed as it would be for tequila, and the flavor is taken across without fermentation.
How does it differ from the Ámbar?
Almave make three. The Blanco is the bright, herbal one built for mixing. The Ámbar is richer, with roasted agave and caramel, and holds up on its own. The Humo is the smoky one.
What do I make with it?
A margarita or a paloma. It has enough acidity and dry oak on the finish to stand up to lime and salt rather than disappear behind them.
