Baby Shower Drinks: Mocktails and 0.0% Sparkling Everyone Can Share

A baby shower drinks menu with recipes, the 0.0% sparkling bottles for the toast, how much to buy, and what to know if you're hosting.

Pregnancy-Safe Sparkle Celebration

The best baby shower drinks look like part of the party, not a stand-in for the guest of honor: a mimosa bar, a pink Shirley Temple, a fruit spritz and a bottle of 0.0% sparkling for the toast. Here is a menu to make, the sparkling bottles that state 0.0% alcohol, how much to buy, and what to know if you’re hosting for someone else.

The shower drinks menu

Five drinks that look festive in a glass and take minutes to make, linked to the recipe where there is one. Make every one with a bottle labeled 0.0%: the recipes name ordinary non-alcoholic wines, so swap in one from our pregnancy-friendly shelf.

Pink, blue, or a reveal

Pink

A splash of grenadine turns lemonade or soda pink. Make your own real grenadine or use Giffard’s, which is alcohol-free.

Pink or blue ice

Freeze raspberries or blueberries in ice-cube trays with water. Drop them into sparkling water or a 0.0% sparkling, and the color is the reveal.

Make it a bar

Set out one chilled 0.0% sparkling, three juices and a bowl of fruit, and let everyone build a mimosa. It keeps the host out of the kitchen.

SHORT ON TIME?
Mocktails in a can, all 0.0%
Mingle makes sparkling mocktails labeled 0.0% that are on our pregnancy-friendly shelf: a blood orange and elderflower mimosa, a sparkling raspberry rosé and more. Chill a few six-packs and set them out in a bucket of ice.

The point is one table of drinks that everyone, including the guest of honor, can pour from.

Choosing a sparkling: 0.0% matters

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists advises that no amount of alcohol is known to be safe in pregnancy, and that the safest choice is not to drink at all (ACOG’s FAQ on fetal alcohol spectrum disorders explains why). We sell non-alcoholic drinks, so we’re not neutral: we report that guidance and the producers’ labels, and decisions belong with the person and her clinician.

On a label, the number to look for is 0.0%:

  • 0.0%: No alcohol detectable, or none was ever present. Every bottle named below states 0.0%.
  • Under 0.5%: The legal limit for “non-alcoholic” in the US. It allows a trace of alcohol, so it is not the choice for a pregnancy.

What our pregnancy-friendly shelf checks

Every bottle on our pregnancy-friendly shelf is read before it is added. It must:

  • state 0.0% on its label;
  • publish a full ingredient list;
  • contain no caffeine, hemp, adaptogens or functional botanicals;
  • use no preservatives beyond sulfites or sorbate.

We can’t tell you whether a drink suits your pregnancy; that is a question for your doctor or midwife. The bottles below all come from that shelf.

Four 0.0% bottles that do different jobs

All four state 0.0% and are on our pregnancy-friendly shelf. The numbers aren’t a ranking.

How much to buy

A 750 mL bottle pours about five flutes. Showers often run three hours, so plan on two or three drinks a guest, and count the mimosa bar as part of it.

GuestsSparkling (750 mL)Plus

If you’re hosting for someone else

Ask her first

What she wants to drink matters more than any list. Some want a proper bottle; some just want good lemonade.

Buy for the afternoon

Enough for three hours, not one toast, with at least one dry, not-sweet option.

Chill ahead

Everything into the fridge the night before. Sparkling goes flat fast once warm.

Put it on the table

Let her pour her own from the same table as everyone else.

Common questions

What is the difference between 0.0% and under 0.5%?

A 0.0% label means no alcohol is detectable, or none was ever present, as in sparkling wines that are never fermented. Under 0.5% is the US legal limit for non-alcoholic and allows a trace. ACOG advises that no amount of alcohol is known to be safe in pregnancy.

How many bottles of sparkling do I need for a baby shower?

A 750 mL bottle pours about five flutes. For a three-hour shower, plan on two or three drinks a guest, so 10 guests need three to four bottles, more if it also feeds a mimosa bar. Half bottles are handy for guests who want just one glass.

What does never alcoholized mean?

The grapes are pressed and the juice is never fermented, so alcohol never forms. Dealcoholized wines are made as wine first and the alcohol is removed afterward. Both routes can reach 0.0%; the label tells you which.

How far ahead can I buy the drinks?

Unopened bottles keep for months stored cool, upright and out of direct light. Chill them the night before. Once opened, sparkling goes flat within a day, so a stopper helps and leftovers are best used that day.
