Best Non-Alcoholic Red Wine
Eight alcohol-free reds, each picked for a different kind of drinker, from a Bordeaux blend for dinner to a chilled Italian red, with sugar side by side.

Good non-alcoholic red is made as red wine first, fermented on its skins for color and tannin, then has the alcohol taken out. Below are our picks, each answering a different question, with the fact that decided it and the bottle that came closest.
Be ready for one thing: reds lose the most when the alcohol comes out, because alcohol carries their body and warmth. In Wine Spectator’s 2026 blind tasting of 50 alcohol-free wines, reds fared worse than sparkling bottles and aromatic whites. The reds that hold up lean on tannin, oak or a chill instead, and our picks do too.
How we picked: in October 2026 we compared the label records of the 26 still reds we had in stock, then shortlisted by sugar, method and style; where bottles tied, our editors chose. The chart below shows every bottle we weighed. Our Editor’s Choice is a bottle our team has tasted.

Pair with: Roast turkey or butternut squash gratin.
ButterZero Pinot Noir
- <0.5%
- 5.4 g sugar per 100 mL

- United States
Pinot Noir from JaM Cellars in Napa, made as Butter wine and then dealcoholized, so the house style carries over. Red cherry, strawberry and cranberry over a creamy texture; softer in body than a full-strength Pinot.
Stella Rosa Naturals Red
- <0.5%
- 12.0 g sugar per 100 mL
- Dealcoholized
- Italy
Brachetto from Italy, semi-sweet and lightly sparkling, with the alcohol removed at the end. Ripe raspberry, wild strawberry and red plum, the sweetness held up by acidity. Serve it chilled or over ice.

How to choose
Tannin and oak
Alcohol gives red wine its weight. The reds that hold up best lean on tannin and oak instead: Bordeaux blends, Tempranillo, Syrah. Lighter grapes like Pinot Noir read softer.
Dry or sweet
Under 3 g of sugar per 100 mL reads dry; 4 to 5 g reads rounder; the semi-sweet Brachetto styles run to 12 g. Every red here shows its label figure.
0.0% or under 0.5%
Some reds are 0.0%. Others are labeled under 0.5%, the level most markets allow for a drink sold as non-alcoholic. Each pick shows which.
Serve it cooler
Without alcohol, reds taste fresher a few degrees cooler than usual, around 55 to 60°F. Light reds like Fiamma are made to be chilled.
Serving and keeping
Chill
Most reds at 55 to 60°F; light reds twenty minutes in the fridge.
Glass
A large bowl, so the aroma has room.
Open
Give a firm red like Cuvée Rouge #3 twenty minutes open to soften its tannin.
Keep
Recork and refrigerate, and finish within about three days.

Common questions
What is the best non-alcoholic red wine?
For dinner, Kolonne Null Cuvée Rouge #3, a dealcoholized Bordeaux blend with real tannin. With no sugar at all, Elivo Cardio Zero Red; for every day, Lussory Merlot. The picks above explain why, and who each one suits.
Which non-alcoholic red wine is the driest?
Elivo Cardio Zero Red: its label shows 0 g of sugar, and it is 0.0%. Next come Saint Viviana Cabernet Sauvignon at 0.4 g per 100 mL and Elivo Zero Zero Deluxe Red at 0.6 g. Most of the reds we stock sit between 2.4 and 4.7 g.
Why does non-alcoholic red wine taste lighter?
Alcohol carries body and warmth, and red wine leans on both. Once it is removed, tannin, oak and acidity do the work, which is why oak-aged blends and firmer grapes hold up best. A slightly cooler pour helps too.
Should non-alcoholic red wine be chilled?
Slightly. Most taste best at 55 to 60°F, cooler than a red with alcohol, which keeps them fresh rather than flat. Light reds such as Prima Pavé Fiamma are made to be chilled: twenty minutes in the fridge.
